Ratchamanu Soldiers Patrol Border After Myanmar Combat Rounds Land in Thailand

Ratchamanu soldiers patrolled the border at Ban Mae Kon Ken after Myanmar combat rounds landed on Thai territory, causing injuries. Their presence aims to enhance security and build confidence among the local population.

At the Thai border near Ban Millapan, opposite Ban Mae Kon Ken, Maha Wan Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province, intense fighting broke out involving small arms and heavy weapons with continuous gunfire. An 81mm mortar round from the fighting accidentally crossed into Thailand near the intersection on the paved road close to Wat Huai Maha Wong, causing a loud explosion that injured civilians on 5 Dec 2025.

At 14:30 on 6 Dec 2025, a local resident, 33-year-old Thanapon from Village 9, Ban Mae Kon Ken, shared CCTV footage recently recovered showing an explosion from unidentified armed forces crossing into Thai territory at the Ban Mae Kon Ken intersection. The blast caused the CCTV camera to shake and become inoperable, injured people, and damaged vehicles, homes, and belongings in several households.

The footage before the blast shows the homeowner washing a white sedan and then entering the house. Suddenly, an explosion occurs on the road, sending smoke and a loud bang, with debris scattered around. People’s cries can be heard, including the granddaughter of Uncle Som, who was injured by shrapnel, running inside the house in distress, calling for help for her grandfather.

From another angle, a deputy village head recorded video after the explosion, showing smoke rising at the intersection and inquiring about any injured people.

The 3rd Army Area Operations Center ordered the Naresuan Task Force, through the Ratchamanu Special Unit, to deploy personnel and vehicles alongside Mae Sot district officials, Border Patrol Police Company 346, and local defense volunteers. They are conducting continuous 24-hour patrols along the border area of Ban Mae Kon Ken, Maha Wan Subdistrict, Mae Sot District, Tak Province, during the ongoing fighting inside Myanmar’s Ban Millapan near the Thai border. The patrols aim to maintain order and reassure residents vulnerable to the conflict’s effects along the Thai-Myanmar border.

Authorities also ask Thai residents living near the border to temporarily relocate to safer areas such as relatives’ homes to ensure their safety amid the ongoing fighting.
