Cambodia Continues Heavy Weapon Fire into Thailand, BM-21 Rocket Sounds Heard in Multiple Locations

Cambodia continues to use heavy weapons to provide supporting fire into Thailand. There are reports of BM-21 rocket sounds falling at multiple points, including Ta Phraya district in Sa Kaeo province and the Chong An Ma zone in Ubon Ratchathani province.

On 8 Dec 2025 GMT+7 at 15:10, reporters reported the Thailand–Cambodia border situation heating up again. It was reported that Burapha forces clashed with Cambodian soldiers on Sri Phen Road near the border between Ban Nong Jan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo province, a high-risk area with tensions since morning.

Local officials said that after detecting unusual movements near the border, Burapha patrol units conducted reconnaissance before engaging in a firefight with Cambodian troops. Continuous loud gunfire from small arms and heavy weapons lasted multiple rounds, causing the area around the clash site to suddenly become unsafe.

Residents nearby clearly heard gunfire; some reported feeling vibrations from intermittent heavy weapon fire. Cambodian rounds landed near a Thai checkpoint manned by officials, prompting all units to issue an immediate emergency alert and urgently instruct remaining villagers to take shelter in foxholes.

Security officials jointly assessed the situation, stating that the range and severity of the firefight were such that even bunkers were not secure. If heavy weapon fire continues, villagers could be endangered at any time. Consequently, Sa Kaeo province urgently ordered a 100% evacuation of border villages immediately.

The evacuation order covered Ban Nong Jan, Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, and all nearby border areas. Vehicles were arranged to transport residents to shelters prepared by the province. Meanwhile, police, military, local defense volunteers, and rescue units cooperated to open safe routes for civilians to relocate.

Village roads were crowded with pickup trucks and evacuation vehicles rushing out of the area. Some families packed only clothes and important documents before leaving amid intermittent gunfire. Most residents expressed anxiety and fear as such severe violence had not occurred in many years.

Burapha forces reinforced their positions along the frontline and established support firing bases to control the situation. Meanwhile, administrative officials maintained coordination with the provincial security center to continuously assess the situation, anticipating that tensions may not ease soon.

Reports indicate that from about 16:20, Cambodia continued heavy weapon fire supporting attacks into Thailand as follows.

At 16:20, reports stated that Cambodia fired BM-21 rockets into Ta Phraya area, with two large shells hitting villages, along with intermittent small arms fire.

At 16:49, reports said around 20 BM-21 rockets were heard in Phumisorol, Sisaket province.

Also at 16:49, there were reports that Cambodian soldiers fired BM-21 rockets into Chong An Ma.
