The Meteorological Department issued Bulletin No. 14 warning of heavy to very heavy rain in Southern Thailand affecting the area from 12 to 16 December 2025, with potential flash floods and flash flooding.
On 12 December 2025, the Meteorological Department announced heavy to very heavy rain in Southern Thailand and strong winds in the Gulf of Thailand (effective from 12 to 16 December 2025) in Bulletin No. 14.
From 12 to 13 December 2025, Southern Thailand will see increased rainfall with heavy rain in several areas including Prachuap Khiri Khan, Ranong, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, Satun, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat provinces. Very heavy rain is expected in Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Songkhla provinces. This is due to a low-pressure area over the Gulf of Thailand and Southern Thailand.
Between 14 and 16 December 2025, the lower southern region will continue to experience heavy rain in many areas, including Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Krabi, Trang, and Satun provinces. This is due to a strengthening northeast monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and Southern Thailand. Waves in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea will increase in strength, with waves of 2-3 meters in the lower Gulf, over 3 meters in thunderstorm areas, about 2 meters in the upper Gulf, and over 2 meters offshore in the Andaman Sea, with waves exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.
Residents are advised to be cautious of dangers from heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and flash flooding, especially in hillside areas near waterways and low-lying zones. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea should navigate carefully and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Mariners in the lower Gulf of Thailand are advised to refrain from venturing offshore.
Meanwhile, upper Thailand will experience unstable weather with scattered thunderstorms on 12-13 December 2025.
This is due to easterly winds bringing moisture over upper Thailand, followed by a temperature drop of 2-4 degrees Celsius. Cool to cold weather with strong winds will occur as a strong high-pressure system or cold air mass from China covers Thailand. Residents are advised to take care of their health amid these weather changes, and farmers should prepare to prevent and mitigate potential agricultural damage.
Therefore, residents should follow announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information on the department’s website.http://www.tmd.go.thor by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
