On 12 December 2025 at 08:00 GMT+7, Air Chief Marshal Prapas Sonjaidee, director of the Joint Thai-Cambodian Situation Press Center, announced that despite the parliament's dissolution on 11 December, the government remains in office as the "acting government" with full legal authority to maintain national security and continue protecting the Thai people.
The border situation remains tense due to Cambodia's incursions and attacks on several Thai areas. Consequently, the Thai military must exercise its right to self-defense under Thai law and international law, aiming solely to halt threats to civilian lives and to preserve national sovereignty in the most limited and necessary manner.
The government and military reaffirm that they continue to command and operate with full legal authority. Martial law is enforced in border areas according to Thailand's security laws. The Joint Press Center will transparently report the situation to provide accurate information to the public. Thailand remains committed to peaceful principles and dialogue when safe, but will firmly and rightfully defend its territory to ensure the people's peace.
The public is asked to follow information from official agencies, avoid risky areas, refrain from sharing images or information that could compromise the safety of personnel, and unite to maintain peace and national solidarity during this time.
