
An honorable ceremony was held to return the bodies of two brave soldiers, Private Thanarat and Private Chanchai, border heroes who died while on duty defending sovereignty in the border area of Ta Pra Ya District, Sa Kaeo Province.
On 12 Dec 2025 at 09:40, Major General Thanat Poonnayom, Commander of Military Circle 19, along with Mr. Prinya Photisat, Governor of Sa Kaeo Province, Police Major General Thawon Dulyawit, Commander of Sa Kaeo Provincial Police, the presiding judge of Sa Kaeo Provincial Court, the district chief of Watthana Nakhon, heads of government agencies in Sa Kaeo, and local residents gathered to send off the bodies of two privates who died defending Thai-Cambodian border sovereignty in the Bueng Takuan - Khlong Phang area. Private Thanarat Janpradad of the 112th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, was sent back to his hometown in Nong Khai Province, and Private Chanchai Phadungchok, also of the 112th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion, was sent back to Kalasin Province. The ceremony honored soldiers who served with utmost dedication until their last moments to protect the nation and prevent infringement on Thai sovereignty.
Lieutenant General Worayos Luangsuwan, Commander of the 1st Army Area, assigned Major General Thanat Poonnayom to lead the incense offering in front of the two fallen soldiers’ bodies, paying tribute to these heroic soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending sovereignty at the Ta Pra Ya border battlefield in Sa Kaeo Province. He also presented the funeral cloth with deep respect for their sacrifice. The ceremony included the transfer of the honored bodies to express love, respect, and final farewell. Following that, an honor guard carried rifles and sounded bugle calls to accompany the soldiers’ bodies as the funeral procession moved to the Air Force aircraft at Wing 3 in Sa Kaeo Province, which transported the bodies to their hometowns in Nong Khai and Kalasin for funeral rites.
On 10 Dec 2025 at approximately 21:00, Private Thanarat was on duty repelling enemy forces at the Bueng Takuan - Khlong Phang battlefield in Ta Pra Ya District, Sa Kaeo Province, when enemy grenade launcher fire struck an armored vehicle, injuring several soldiers. This attack caused the deaths of Private Thanarat and Private Chanchai, both from the 112th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion. Both soldiers are regarded as courageous heroes who fought valiantly and sacrificed their lives to truly protect the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Thailand.
