The Meteorological Department issued Bulletin No. 26 warning of heavy to very heavy rain in the southern region, with risks of flash floods and mountain runoff. Meanwhile, northern Thailand will experience cooler weather with strong winds, with temperatures dropping 1-2 degrees Celsius.
On 15 Dec 2025, the Meteorological Department website released Bulletin No. 26 (399/2568) regarding heavy to very heavy rain in the southern region and strong waves in the Gulf of Thailand, effective until 16 Dec 2025.
From 15-16 Dec 2025, the lower southern region will continue to experience heavy rain and some areas very heavy rain, affecting Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Trang, and Satun provinces. This is due to a fairly strong northeast monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand and southern region. In the lower Gulf of Thailand, waves are strong at 2-3 meters high, with thunderstorm areas having waves over 3 meters. In the upper Gulf, waves reach about 2 meters. In the Andaman Sea, waves away from shore and in thunderstorm areas exceed 2 meters.
Residents in the lower southern region are advised to be cautious of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulated rainfall, which may cause flash floods and mountain runoff, especially near foothills, waterways, and low-lying areas. Mariners in the Gulf of Thailand and Andaman Sea should navigate carefully and avoid sailing in thunderstorm areas. Small boats in the lower Gulf of Thailand are advised to stay ashore.
Meanwhile, northern Thailand will experience cooler weather with strong winds, with temperatures dropping 1-2 degrees Celsius. This is due to a high-pressure system or cold air mass spreading from China covering Thailand. The public is advised to take care of their health due to the cooler weather, and farmers should prepare to prevent and mitigate damage to agricultural crops.
The public is urged to monitor announcements from the Meteorological Department and can access information anytime via the department’s website http://www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182, available 24 hours.
