Nakhon Ratchasima Monitors Russian Mercenaries Orders Strict Surveillance at All Police Stations for Suspicious Foreigners

The Nakhon Ratchasima police chief has ordered all police stations in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District to monitor Russian nationals staying in the area, fearing that mercenaries might enter to carry out sabotage in military zones of the 2nd Army Region and Wing 1, as well as important economic districts of the province.

On 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7, regarding the Thai-Cambodian border situation after Cambodia used suicide drones to attack Thai positions during border fighting, there are widespread concerns that suspicious individuals might infiltrate the country to operate drones for sabotage in community areas, economic zones, and highly secured military areas such as the 2nd Army Region and Wing 1.

The Air Force had previously issued a public announcement requesting citizens to help monitor suspicious drone operators. If suspicious individuals are seen, people are urged to immediately report to 191 or 1374. Meanwhile, Wing 1 has warned the public to refrain from flying LED-lit kites at night, as they might be mistaken for unknown unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), potentially causing public alarm. These measures aim to ensure safety, order, and prevent misunderstandings.

The Facebook page “Information Division, Royal Thai Police” posted a message from “Phon Krang Police Station, Nakhon Ratchasima Province,” stating: “Public notice: The Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police have received reports that Russian mercenaries (hired by Cambodia) may be residing in the province, targeting drone attacks on strategic areas within Nakhon Ratchasima Province (Wing 1). If you encounter foreigners staying in guesthouses, hotels, or residences in your area, please urgently notify Phon Krang Police Station at 044 918600 or call 191.”

Most recently, on the morning of 15 Dec 2025 GMT+7, a reporter contacted Pol. Maj. Gen. Narongsak Promtha, Commander of Nakhon Ratchasima Provincial Police, who said that at 11:00 a.m. today, he convened a meeting of police chiefs from all stations in Mueang Nakhon Ratchasima District to issue policies for monitoring suspicious individuals who may act as spies, exhibit abnormal behavior, possess suspicious equipment, and to implement countermeasures against suspicious drones. This follows urgent orders from Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, to intensify surveillance and enforce strict anti-drone tactics, while expediting investigations and strictly enforcing laws against threats to national security.
