The Russian Embassy in Thailand confirms that no citizens are involved as mercenaries in the Thai-Cambodian border clash and supports resolving the dispute peacefully.
On 15 Dec 2025, the Facebook pageof the Russian Embassy in Thailandposted a statement saying, “The Russian Embassy in Thailand is aware of reports from some Thai media suggesting the possibility that Russian citizens were involved as mercenaries allegedly hired by Cambodia to join the conflict at the Thailand-Cambodia border.
These reports are unfounded and likely originate from external sources aiming to undermine the rights of Russian citizens residing in Thailand as tourists or businesspeople, damaging the long-standing friendship between Russia and Thailand.
Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a clear position regarding the Thai-Cambodian border conflict. As stated by the ministry’s spokesperson during a press briefing on 11 Dec 2025, Russia maintains friendly relations and cooperation with both Thailand and Cambodia and affirms support for resolving the dispute through peaceful means only.”
