Update on the Thai-Cambodian border situation: On 16 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Rear Admiral Surasand Khongsiri, Ministry of Defense spokesperson, outlined the timeline of tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border. He stated that since noon yesterday (15 Dec 2025 GMT+7) at 12:00, Thai forces successfully reclaimed the Prasat Ta Kwai area, which has always been under Thailand’s sovereignty.
Currently, the army continues military operations to fully secure control over the surrounding areas.
Later at 19:00, Cambodian forces continued to attack into Thai territory, especially around Chong Klang, resulting in the death of one Thai soldier from the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment. This marks another heroic loss for the Thai forces.
The total number of Thai personnel affected by the clashes now stands at 16 killed in combat and one death on duty, totaling 17 fatalities.
This morning at 06:47, Cambodian forces again launched attacks into Thai territory, forcing Thai forces to respond in order to defend sovereignty and expel opposing forces from the area.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense spokesperson also reported on the Royal Thai Navy’s ongoing operations both on land and sea in key locations around Ban Samran and Koh Yor in Koh Kong province. The situation is progressing positively, with further detailed reports to follow.
At the same time, the Royal Thai Navy expressed gratitude to the residents of Trat province for their strict cooperation during the curfew declaration, which aims to protect lives and property, prevent sabotage, and block infiltration by opposing forces.
