The Army clarified that intense clashes continue at "Hill 350," emphasizing it as a critical strategic position that is difficult to capture due to the enemy's strong fortifications. They confirmed that all operations prioritize civilian safety. Meanwhile, efforts to recover the bodies of two fallen soldiers remain ongoing at the frontline.
Update on the Thai-Cambodian border situation: On 18 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Colonel Richha Suksuwanont, Deputy Army Spokesperson, revealed the battle at "Hill 350," a key strategic position long held by Cambodian forces. They have established strong defensive lines and military fortifications, making Thai efforts to reclaim the area challenging.
Assessment shows Cambodian forces employing heavy weapons including BM-21 rockets, artillery, and long-range support weapons, followed by drone attacks carrying explosives. This has continuously challenged Thai troops’ defensive and offensive efforts.
However, the Army affirmed that its troops maintain good morale and have prepared carefully to strengthen security and continue operations to reclaim the area as planned, acknowledging that the mission is difficult.
Regarding the terrain and enemy fortifications, which may include dugouts or tunnels, the Deputy Army Spokesperson stated this is classified intelligence and details cannot be disclosed, but confirmed the area’s critical strategic significance.
Addressing social media reports from Cambodian sources claiming severe pressure and depleted supplies in enemy tunnels, the Deputy Army Spokesperson urged the public to exercise discretion and consider information from multiple perspectives.
Meanwhile, in Poipet—another contested area—Thai forces have used air power to support military strikes to gain a tactical advantage. They emphasized that all operations are carefully considered to target only military objectives and strictly avoid impact on civilians.
The Deputy Army Spokesperson confirmed that the Thai military strictly adheres to international law and humanitarian principles and remains fully committed to defending the nation’s sovereignty.
During the press briefing, Colonel Richha Suksuwanont also disclosed that the search for the bodies of two fallen soldiers at Hill 350 continues amid ongoing heavy clashes, with frontline units persisting in their efforts to recover them.
