Residents in Songkhla are closely watching water levels at the Khlong Rian Monkey Cheek Reservoir after the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sent warning messages. Some express concern, while the Meteorological Department warns of moderate to heavy rain continuing until 9 to 10 p.m. across southern provinces.
On 18 Dec 2025 GMT+7, a reporter reported that at 2:30 p.m., following heavy rain in Kho Hong Subdistrict, Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, many local residents near the Khlong Rian Monkey Cheek Reservoir became worried and gathered to monitor the water levels closely after the Songkhla Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sent alert messages via mobile phones.
When asked, a local resident said he was also afraid because of the previous major flood, but compared to last time, he felt somewhat reassured. Heavy rain fell overnight and continues today, with flooding starting at some spots but not severe. Fortunately, the rain paused briefly. One reason for water overflowing the dam barrier in Kho Hong Subdistrict is blockage caused by debris clogging the area.
The reporter also noted that the Meteorological Department posted on Facebook a rain warning stating that as of 4:00 p.m., moderate to heavy rain covers Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Narathiwat, and coastal areas of the Gulf of Thailand. The rain is moving westward and slightly southward toward Krabi, Trang, Satun, and Yala provinces, with rain expected to continue until 9 to 10 p.m.
