Tourists flock to 'Phu Ruea Peak' to watch the sunrise and experience the cold 12°C weather, while 'Thailand's sakura' begins blooming beautifully and in succession.
At 06:30 on 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters at Phu Ruea National Park observed many tourists ascending Phu Ruea Peak to watch the golden sunrise, feel the chilly weather, and see the sakura trees blooming amidst a temperature of 12°C.
Ms. Netnapa Ngamnet, head of Phu Ruea National Park, revealed that besides the natural beauty and cool weather at Phu Ruea Peak, the Queen Tiger Flower, or Thailand's sakura, is beginning to bud and bloom clearly. This early blooming is due to the colder-than-usual weather this year, causing flowers to appear earlier than in previous years.
Currently, many Queen Tiger Flower trees are starting to bloom, with full blossom expected from late December through early January, coinciding with the New Year festival. Flowering has been observed at the Phu Ruea Peak pickup point, in front of the summit restroom, and along both sides of the road from checkpoint 2 leading up to the peak.
