Air Force Confirms Coordination with All Sectors to Prevent Drones That May Threaten Thailands Security

The Air Force spokesperson confirmed that the Air Force coordinates with all sectors to prevent drones that may pose a security threat to Thailand. It is expected that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) will introduce additional drone no-fly zones to ensure security around high-value petroleum platform areas.

On 19 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Air Marshal Jakkrit Thamwichai, the Air Force spokesperson, revealed the preventive measures against Cambodian drones suspected of intending sabotage against petroleum drilling platforms in the Gulf of Thailand. Currently, the Air Force serves as the main agency overseeing countermeasures against unmanned aerial vehicles. It continuously coordinates with the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and security agencies to prevent drone attacks that could threaten Thailand's security. He confirmed that all air wings have both proactive and reactive drone defense measures and coordinate operations with security units in the area to prevent drone flights in zones that could impact valuable assets.

Regarding the Marine National Coordination Center's (MNCC) request for cooperation from fishing vessels, shipping operators, and marine activity stakeholders to monitor safety at sea—especially for suspicious vessels or drones flying over petroleum platform areas—it is anticipated that the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand will follow up with additional drone no-fly zone measures. This aims to ensure that high-value areas receive genuine protection. Furthermore, appropriate penalties and legal actions will be implemented against any violations as deemed necessary.
