Urgent: Aranyaprathet Municipality has issued a warning for residents to evacuate to safe areas or shelters due to unrest along the Thailand-Cambodia border region.
Update on the Thailand-Cambodia border situation in Sa Kaeo Province: At approximately 14:10 GMT+7 on 21 Dec 2025, Aranyaprathet Municipality issued an alert to residents within the municipality and nearby areas, stating the following.
Due to unrest along the Thailand-Cambodia border, residents of Aranyaprathet Municipality and surrounding areas are requested to evacuate to safe locations or shelters. Those without vehicles may gather at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation building of Aranyaprathet Municipality to board transportation starting immediately.
At 13:50 GMT+7 earlier, news teams received reports of nearly 10 artillery shots fired from Cambodia toward Thailand. Residents in Aranyaprathet city felt strong vibrations. This caused panic among locals and business operators in Rong Kluea and Aranyaprathet areas, who hurriedly packed and evacuated the area.
So far, no damage has been reported on the Thai side. Only smoke plumes have been seen rising on the Cambodian side, after Thai authorities responded appropriately.
