Surin remained on alert throughout the night as Thai forces detected movements of Cambodian soldiers attempting to approach and open a front near Ta Muen Thom and Chong Krang temples.
On 22 December 2025, the border situation in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin Province, follows Thailand's complete control of the Ta Kwai Temple and Hill 350 areas, awaiting formal establishment of secure positions and the return of the bodies of two fallen brave soldiers to their families.
It was reported that at 18:30 last night, Thai forces fired artillery to pressure the frontline, with loud booms and visible multiple flares soaring across the sky after detecting Cambodian soldiers trying to approach and open a front near Ta Muen Thom and Chong Krang temples. By 20:30, gunfire had quieted, though sporadic small arms clashes continued intermittently before gradually diminishing.
Meanwhile, villages across Phanom Dong Rak District maintained strict surveillance last night by turning off streetlights in villages and along Route 224 from Phanom Dong Rak to the Kab Choeng District junction. The atmosphere was dark and silent to closely monitor the still-tense border situation and to anticipate possible Cambodian invasion tactics, including vigilance against Cambodian suicide drones.
At around 05:00, Thai forces began firing artillery to counter Cambodian troop movements at the border areas of Ta Kwai Temple, Hill 350, Chong Krang, and Ta Muen Thom temples in Phanom Dong Rak District, Surin. Artillery fire continued intermittently after Thai troops detected attempts by Cambodian forces to reinforce and bring heavy weapons closer to the border. This was to block and prevent Cambodian troops from advancing into the strategically important border areas previously reclaimed by Thailand, where Thai forces have continuously pushed back Cambodian incursions. No BM-21 rocket fire from Cambodia has been detected so far.
At the Chong Jom border in Dan Subdistrict, Kab Choeng District, Surin, no fighting was reported this morning. Only Thai artillery fire was observed supporting the border in Phanom Dong Rak District and countering Cambodian troop movements in Kab Choeng District intermittently around 6 a.m. Previously, Thai forces destroyed Cambodian heavy weapons depots, fuel stations, and bridges used as supply routes in Oddar Meanchey Province, Cambodia.
Cambodian forces have not lessened their attempts to invade Thailand, aiming to reclaim lost territories continuously.
