Reports indicate Cambodian soldiers have seized a tall building in Ban Wang Mon, less than 1 km from the Khlong Luek checkpoint, periodically firing to disrupt the Thai side. Authorities have increased strict surveillance measures as Cambodian residents in risk areas continue evacuating amid fears of worsening tensions.
At 11:54 a.m. on 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reports confirmed Cambodian soldiers took control of a tall building in Ban Wang Mon near the Khlong Luek checkpoint, Sa Kaeo province, less than 1 km away, using it as a firing position to create unrest along the border.
The tension along the Thai-Cambodian border, Zone Two near Ban Wang Mon village and Wat Wang Mon, Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province, shows unusual activity from the Cambodian side. Reports say Cambodian soldiers have established a base atop a tall building, firing weapons intermittently from it, apparently to pressure the area.
This location is less than one kilometer from the Ban Khlong Luek border checkpoint, prompting Thai security forces to strengthen surveillance measures to protect the safety of residents and the border economic zone.
Meanwhile, at another point in Ban Khao Din, Khlong Hat district, Sa Kaeo province—opposite Ban Samphao Lun, Malaï district, Battambang province, Cambodia—many Cambodian civilians are urgently evacuating amid tense conditions and fears that fighting and gunfire might escalate.
Local sources say the evacuation reflects Cambodian civilians’ concerns about a potential escalation in violence soon. Thai security agencies continue close monitoring, assessing risks, and preparing contingency plans to safeguard border-area residents.
Authorities urge the public to closely follow updates from official government sources.
