10-Wheel Truck Seized Carrying Over 100 Million Baht Worth of Methamphetamine and Heroin

The Narcotics Suppression Police, together with Pak Tho Police Station and Pak Tho district officials, arrested a major drug trafficking network and seized methamphetamine and heroin valued at over 100 million baht following an investigation linked to a case in northern Thailand.

On 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, it was reported that at about 20:00 on 21 Dec, Pol. Maj. Gen. Prachaya Thongnamwon, Commander of Ratchaburi Provincial Police, received a coordination request from Pol. Col. Phaithun Ngamlap, Director of Division 1, Narcotics Suppression Bureau, to support officers in Pak Tho district in inspecting and arresting a drug trafficking operation in Moo 5 (Ban Khao Than), Don Sai subdistrict, Pak Tho district, Ratchaburi province.

Subsequently, Pol. Maj. Gen. Prachaya ordered Pol. Col. Amnuay Denweha, Superintendent of Pak Tho Police Station, to lead officers alongside the Narcotics Suppression Bureau, forensic officers from Ratchaburi led by Pol. Col. Thanaboon Thatchasrikarnsakul, and Pak Tho district officials. Ms. Chonthicha Wongutsa, Pak Tho district chief, led the administrative officers to assist in the operation and arrests.

Upon inspecting the scene, officers found a white Hino 10-wheel truck registered in Suphanburi parked by the roadside. The truck bed was loaded with more than 100 sacks of rice, placed outside to mislead officers. A thorough inspection revealed that inside the sacks were large quantities of methamphetamine and heroin concealed.

Officers detained one passenger traveling in the truck, later identified as Mr. Suwan. He claimed he was invited to ride along to deliver rice and was unaware of the drugs hidden in the vehicle. The truck driver escaped amid the confusion prior to the arrest.

The officers then transported the truck and all seized items to Pak Tho Police Station for detailed examination, recorded the incident, and handed over all evidence to the Narcotics Suppression Bureau for further investigation and legal action. Initial findings revealed about 6.8 million methamphetamine pills and 300 heroin bars weighing approximately 100 kilograms. If these drugs had reached the market, their value would exceed 100 million baht. Additionally, the sacks containing methamphetamine had been modified into backpack-style carriers, likely used to transport drugs from northern border areas before distribution to central regions.

Further investigation revealed that previously, police in Chiang Rai province arrested a drug user whose phone contained photos of the suspicious truck and numerous sacks inside it, with rice sacks used to conceal the drugs. Authorities tracked the vehicle's route via surveillance cameras along various checkpoints and confirmed the truck's arrival in Ratchaburi province, where it was parked at the arrest site before officers intervened.

However, the truck driver managed to flee, but authorities have identified the individual and are gathering evidence to request a court-issued arrest warrant to bring him to justice.
