First Army Region Summarizes Sa Kaeo Border Conflict: Cambodia Fires Over 180 BM-21 Rounds

The First Army Region revealed that at the Sa Kaeo provincial border, both sides continue to clash in efforts to "occupy" three areas. It was found that Cambodia fired over 180 BM-21 rocket rounds.

At 18:00 on 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the First Army Region Operations Center summarized the Thai-Cambodian border situation in Sa Kaeo province. The Burapha Task Force has been on a mission to protect sovereignty amid the Thai-Cambodian conflict for 15 days, with ongoing clashes to control three areas.

1. Ban Khlong Phaeng area, Ta Phraya District: Cambodian forces have been reinforcing their strongholds and continuously firing heavy artillery, mortars, small arms, armored vehicles, and BM-21 rockets—more than 120 rounds—towards our forces.

2. Ban Nong Ya Kaeo area, Khok Sung District: Cambodian forces have reinforced their strongholds and used heavy artillery, mortars, small arms, and BM-21 rockets, firing over 60 rounds in response to our side.

3. Ban Nong Chan area, Khok Sung District: Cambodian forces have strengthened their positions and responded with heavy artillery, mortars, and small arms fire targeting our territory.

Today, the Royal Thai Air Force conducted two military strikes using F16 jets against targets opposite Ban Khlong Phaeng and Ban Nong Chan areas.

Additionally, the Burapha Task Force carried out operations against Cambodian military targets near Poipet, opposite Tha Kham Subdistrict, Aranyaprathet District. Reconnaissance identified these as buildings used by scammer networks, where Cambodian forces had sniper positions and installed anti-drone systems. Notably, there was one casualty in the clashes at Ban Khlong Phaeng, Ta Phraya District: Sergeant Kampanat Thongsaeng from the 1st Infantry Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.

For the population in four border districts of Sa Kaeo province, local authorities and related agencies have ordered evacuations to temporary shelters and advised following safety instructions. Currently, 40 temporary shelters are open, serving a total of 17,441 residents.
