
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Thanakrit Jitareerat, Secretary to the Minister of Social Development and Human Security, chaired the opening of the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025” in Pathum Thani Province, promoting human dignity and social equality.
At 09:30 on 22 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters noted that Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Thanakrit Jitareerat presided over the opening of the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025” in Pathum Thani. The event was attended by Ekawit Meepian, Governor of Pathum Thani; Police Lieutenant General Kamronwit Thoopkrajang, President of the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization; Airin Panrit, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office; Napaporn Mekhapong-umpai, Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security; Police Lieutenant Colonel Trilup Thoopkrajang, Mayor of Rangsit City; officials from the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security; heads of government agencies; families of persons with disabilities; volunteers; representatives from government, private sectors, disability networks, and more than 600 general attendees at the Conference and Vocational Training Center, Pathum Thani Vocational College, Bang Phun Subdistrict, Mueang District, Pathum Thani Province.
Pathum Thani Province has 25,050 registered persons with disabilities, representing 2.02% of the total population of 1,237,540. To prepare for the expected increase in persons with disabilities and their specific assistance needs, efforts have been accelerated to facilitate their access to welfare rights quickly and conveniently by applying technology in disability service development. This is coupled with fostering positive attitudes towards persons with disabilities and disability itself, promoting mutual learning between persons with disabilities and the general public. It emphasizes that persons with disabilities can live independently with dignity and equality, fully participating in society within accessible environments.
The 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities event in Pathum Thani was jointly organized by the Pathum Thani Provincial Administrative Organization and the Pathum Thani Office of Social Development and Human Security. It followed the United Nations' concept of promoting inclusive societies that support persons with disabilities to drive sustainable social progress.
During the event, certificates of appreciation were awarded to persons with disabilities and public and private organizations that promote and improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities. Assistive devices were distributed, including 10 wheelchairs supported by the Rotary Club of Rangsit and 5 tricycles funded by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, in cooperation with Pathum Thani Province. Additionally, 200,000 baht was granted for home environment adaptations for five persons with disabilities. Financial aid and rehabilitation funds totaling 48,000 baht were given to 16 individuals. Loans totaling 1,479,000 baht were provided for 35 persons with disabilities to start businesses. Support totaling 1,807,880 baht was allocated for eight projects promoting and developing quality of life for persons with disabilities, amounting to a total of 3,569,880 baht.
Furthermore, the Pathum Thani Livestock Office, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, together with Pathum Thani Province, donated 10 egg-laying chickens from the "Egg Near You" project to persons with disabilities.
