First Army Region Clears Minefields and Explosives After Retaking Ban Khlong Phaeng from Cambodia

The First Army Region cleared the former Cambodian stronghold and reclaimed the area of Ban Khlong Phaeng in Sa Kaeo Province, discovering landmines and improvised explosive devices.

On 24 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters received a report from the First Army Region Operations Center on security developments along the Thai-Cambodian border. The report stated that the Burapha Task Force had taken control and reclaimed the site at Ban Khlong Phaeng, Ta Phraya District, Sa Kaeo Province, which was previously a Cambodian stronghold.

After securing the area, officials conducted thorough searches and explosive ordnance disposal to prevent harm to personnel and local residents. The inspection uncovered several ready-to-use explosive devices, including four improvised explosive devices and two PMN-2 anti-personnel mines.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams have enforced strict control over the area and are following safety protocols to neutralize the threats, preventing any unexpected incidents. They have also warned the public to avoid approaching frontline zones and former strongholds until an official declaration confirms the area is safe.

The First Army Region affirmed that it will continue monitoring, inspecting, and implementing security measures along the border to safeguard sovereignty and ensure the safety of the people.
