Department of National Parks Deploys Officers to Relocate Five Lions and Bears from Thamoda Casino

The Department of National Parks has dispatched officers to relocate five lions and bears from Thamoda Casino. The bears will be moved to the Banglamung Wildlife Breeding Station in Chonburi Province, while the lions will be transferred to the Khao Son Wildlife Breeding Station in Ratchaburi Province.

Following a raid by the Trat Marine Task Force at Thamoda Casino on 21 Dec 2025 GMT+7, where five lions and bears were found caged, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation was contacted to send officials to relocate the animals. However, the animals could not be moved immediately due to their weak condition.

Most recently, at 16:00 today (24 Dec 2025 GMT+7), the Trat Marine Task Force, together with officers from Conservation Area Administration Office 2 (Sriracha), veterinarians from Chongklam Bon Wildlife Breeding Station in Sa Kaeo Province, and the Wildlife Rescue Center 2 (Krapuk Koo) in Chachoengsao Province, deployed over 20 personnel to inspect a Chinese resident's house near Thamoda Casino in Trat after discovering caged animals there.

During this operation, close security protection was provided by the Trat Marine Task Force as officials were escorted to the Chinese residence holding five wild animals: three bears and two lions. All animals were in a pitiful state, emaciated and severely weak due to lack of care and food.

The veterinary team planned a wildlife rescue operation by first sedating the animals for safety. The five animals were then placed in cages and moved to a temporary holding area at Wat Tha Sen to assess their condition and provide initial care. They will remain there until they recover from sedation before being relocated to ensure their safety.

Subsequently, the three bears will be transferred to the Banglamung Wildlife Breeding Station in Chonburi Province for continued care, while the two lions will be sent to the Khao Son Wildlife Breeding Station in Ratchaburi Province to recover.

Regarding the legal case, relevant authorities are investigating the origins of the wild animals and the possession documents to proceed with legal action against those involved.
