
The Thai-Cambodian General Secretariat GBC meeting at Ban Phak Kat checkpoint in Chanthaburi focused on three main security issues on the second day. The morning session lasted less than two hours before participants dispersed for a break, preparing to resume negotiations in the afternoon.
At 08:30 on 25 December 2025, the atmosphere at the Ban Phak Kat permanent border crossing in Pong Nam Ron district, Chanthaburi province, Cambodian delegates began arriving to cross into Thailand for the second day of the General Border Committee (GBC) Secretary-level meeting.
At 08:55, Navy Captain Pratya Hanthiam, commander of the Chanthaburi Marine Task Force, along with Thai-Cambodian border coordination units from the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Protection Command and military border affairs representatives, went to welcome the Cambodian delegation mid-bridge before escorting them to the meeting venue.
The meeting took place at the new Immigration Police office at the Ban Phak Kat permanent border checkpoint in Chanthaburi. The Cambodian delegation, led by Major General Yem Boraden, Deputy Head of the Office of the Minister of Defense of Cambodia, included about 30 military and civilian representatives. The official meeting was scheduled to commence soon thereafter.
This meeting was a Secretary-level GBC session to discuss the situation and cooperation approaches for security along the Thai-Cambodian border. Prior media reports indicated three key issues expected to be raised:
1. Cambodia must immediately cease all gunfire.
2. The ceasefire must be continuous, genuine, and monitored by observers to confirm compliance.
3. Cambodia must seriously cooperate in mine clearance to ensure the safety of civilians and military personnel on both sides.
The meeting was held amid strict security measures, aiming to reduce tensions and build lasting stability and peace at the Thai-Cambodian border area at the Ban Phak Kat permanent checkpoint in Pong Nam Ron district, Chanthaburi.
At 10:20, the GBC General Secretariats of both Thailand and Cambodia exited the meeting room for a lunch break. The Cambodian delegation immediately returned across the border, escorted by Thai officials to mid-bridge. The joint meeting is scheduled to resume at 14:00 today.
