Cambodian Man Suffers 80% Burns After Repairing Yacht Battery in Hua Hin, Travels to Pattaya for Hospital Care

A Cambodian man suffered burns covering more than 80% of his body after repairing a battery on a yacht in Hua Hin. He then endured a bus ride to Pattaya to see his wife, who subsequently called rescue personnel to take him to a hospital for treatment.

At approximately 13:40 on 25 Dec 2025 GMT+7, the Marine Disaster Prevention Radio Center in Pattaya received a report from the crew of the tugboat "Aura" about a Cambodian worker who had been severely burned. The vessel was anchored mid-Pattaya Bay, Moo 10, Nong Prue Subdistrict, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. Rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Pattaya promptly responded to the scene.

Upon reaching the tugboat, rescuers found the injured man identified as 46-year-old Mr. Lee from Cambodia. He had burns over 80% of his face, arms, and legs, with skin severely charred. The rescue team quickly provided first aid and transported him ashore at Bali Hai Pier before taking him to Pattaya City Hospital for treatment.

The injured man's wife recounted that her Cambodian husband had delivered the yacht to a customer in Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province the previous day. This morning, he took a passenger bus back to her at the boat anchored in mid-Pattaya Bay, Chonburi Province. She was shocked by his condition. He explained that while repairing the yacht's battery beneath the hull, a sudden spark ignited flames on his face and arms. Not knowing what else to do after being burned, he decided to take a bus across provinces to Pattaya to find her so she could arrange medical care. She said the exact cause of the fire was still unclear and that they would wait until he recovered more before investigating the true cause further.
