Four More PMN-2 Anti-Personnel Mines Found Near Site of Thai Soldiers Explosion Army to Submit Evidence to International Forum

The Thai Army revealed that four more PMN-2 anti-personnel mines were found near the site where a Thai soldier stepped on a mine. These were laid consecutively along the route taken by personnel, clearly reflecting a deliberate intent to endanger the lives of those passing through. The Army is preparing to submit the evidence to the international stage, demonstrating that Cambodia continues to violate the Ottawa Treaty.

On 25 Dec 2025 GMT+7, Major General Winthai Suwaree, spokesperson for the Thai Army, disclosed that the 2nd Army Region reported progress following an incident where personnel of the 2nd Army Region stepped on a mine during a security operation at Prasat Ta Kwai. Additional inspection by the bomb disposal unit near the incident site uncovered four more PMN-2 anti-personnel mines laid consecutively along the personnel’s movement route, only about 30 centimeters from the explosion site.

The manner in which the mines were placed clearly indicates an intentional threat to the lives of personnel and others passing through the area. The Army confirms that this concrete evidence clearly shows Cambodia’s ongoing use of anti-personnel mines, which constitutes a serious violation of international obligations under the Ottawa Treaty banning such mines and contravenes universal humanitarian principles.

The Army will compile all information, evidence, and details to hand over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for diplomatic procedures and to officially raise the issue with the international community at global forums. The Army strongly condemns these actions and reiterates that the use of anti-personnel mines in all cases is unacceptable to the global community.
