Warning Issued for 7 Southern Provinces to Monitor Flash Floods, Flashy Floods, Overflowing Banks, and Landslides from 25 to 28 Dec 2025

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued a warning for seven southern provinces to monitor flash floods, flashy floods, overflowing riverbanks, and landslides during 25–28 December 2025.

On 24 December 2025 at 16:00, the DDPM announced that seven southern provinces—Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat—should closely monitor flash floods, flashy floods, overflowing riverbanks, and landslides from 25 to 28 December 2025.

Teams and disaster machinery have been deployed to risk areas to respond immediately and assist those affected, aiming to minimize flood impacts. The public in risk zones is being warned in advance and urged to strictly follow official disaster alerts.

Mr. Theerapat Kachamat, Director-General of DDPM, said the Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center has been continuously monitoring weather and risk factors. The Eastern Southern Meteorological Center issued bulletin no. 2 (83/2568) on 24 December 2025 at 05:00, reporting a fairly strong northeast monsoon covering the Gulf of Thailand, southern Thailand, and the Andaman Sea, causing increased rainfall and heavy to very heavy rain in parts of the eastern southern region.

Waves and winds in the lower Gulf of Thailand are intensifying, with sea waves about 2 meters high, and over 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Areas are advised to watch for flash floods, flashy floods, overflowing banks, and landslides from 25 to 28 December 2025. The seven affected southern provinces are Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat.

The Central Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Command Center, via DDPM, has coordinated with these seven provinces and Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centers Region 11 (Surat Thani) and Region 12 (Songkhla) to prepare for increased and heavy rainfall that may cause flooding. Officials are instructed to closely monitor weather, rainfall, and water situations locally.

Teams equipped with disaster machinery are assigned to risk areas to respond and assist residents promptly, especially where rainfall exceeds 90 millimeters in 24 hours, to reduce flood impacts. Staff will continuously monitor risk zones and remain ready to intervene 24/7. Provinces are also urged to inform residents to closely follow official weather updates and alerts and prepare accordingly by following government advice strictly.

Residents in risk areas are advised to monitor weather conditions, warning announcements, water situations, and official news continuously, and prepare for potential disasters. They can follow alerts via the "THAI DISASTER ALERT" app available on IOS and Android. Those affected by disasters can report incidents and request help via the Line account "DDPM Incident Report 1784" by adding Line ID @1784DDPM or call the 1784 emergency hotline, available 24 hours, for coordinated assistance.
