People are gradually traveling back home along Mittraphap Road heading toward the Northeast, causing accumulating heavy traffic. Authorities are preparing to open special lanes at several points to help ease the congestion.
On 27 Dec 2025, reporters observed heavy traffic on Mittraphap Road passing through Nakhon Ratchasima Province toward the Northeast this morning. Many vehicles are using this route, increasing congestion and causing traffic to accumulate at several locations, especially at Talat Khae Intersection in Non Sung District, Ban Wat Intersection in Khong District, and Sida Intersection in Sida District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, where long queues have formed. Officials from the Nakhon Ratchasima Highway District and highway police at Ban Som are preparing to open special lanes on Mittraphap Road near Ban Samrit Intersection, Tharn Prasat Subdistrict, Non Sung District, to help clear the growing traffic jams.
Although the Department of Highways has extended service on the M6 Motorway (Bang Pa-in–Nakhon Ratchasima) by an additional 85 kilometers, from Hin Khong Subdistrict, Nong Khae District, Saraburi Province, to Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, vehicles exiting the M6 in Non Sung District are joining the traffic on Mittraphap Road (Highway 2) leaving Nakhon Ratchasima city. This convergence has increased vehicle accumulation because many people are returning to their hometowns in the Northeast, leading to heavy traffic congestion on Mittraphap Road.
Traffic on Mittraphap Road is expected to remain heavily congested continuously until this evening.
