Navy Welcomes GBC Negotiation Results but Maintains Full Readiness to Defend Thai Sovereignty

The Royal Thai Navy confirms it will follow the results of the General Border Committee (GBC) negotiations. The Navy Commander-in-Chief assures that full readiness to defend Thailand's border sovereignty will be maintained.

On 27 December 2025 GMT+7, Rear Admiral Parach Rattanachaiphan, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Navy, stated that Thai and Cambodian sides have held talks under the General Border Committee framework and reached a mutual agreement to implement a ceasefire starting 27 December 2025 GMT+7 at 12:00 noon, as well as to reduce tension in the border area.

The Royal Thai Navy has acknowledged the negotiation results and stands ready to strictly follow the Thai government's policy, emphasizing the principle of reducing confrontations to maintain stability, public safety, and peace in the border region.

Meanwhile, Admiral Phairoj Fuangchan, the Navy Commander-in-Chief, has ordered tight deployment, area control, and security at key strategic points, with continuous 24-hour monitoring of the situation to prevent and investigate any acts that might violate the agreement or affect Thailand's sovereignty.

The Navy stressed that the ceasefire measures do not imply reduced military readiness but represent managing the situation within diplomatic and international legal frameworks. The Navy continues to maintain its combat and support forces in the area as before, prepared to respond should any changes or violations of the agreement occur.

Admiral Phairoj Fuangchan addressed the public, asking them to trust that all Navy personnel will perform their duties selflessly and remain fully committed to protecting the nation's sovereignty, security, and interests to the utmost.
