Tragic: Trailer Truck Crashes into Three Houses, Killing 78-Year-Old Woman, One Seriously Injured Driver Admits Methamphetamine Use

A dirt-loaded trailer truck lost control and crashed into three houses along the Phetchabun - Ban Nam Duea road, killing a 78-year-old grandmother and seriously injuring one person. The driver admitted to using methamphetamine.

On 27 Dec 2025, officers at Ban Khok Police Station received reports of a trailer truck losing control and crashing into three houses, causing damage, with one fatality and one seriously injured. The incident occurred along the Phetchabun - Ban Nam Duea road near a house in Village 7, Ban Khok Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchabun District, Phetchabun Province. Police, emergency doctors from Phetchabun Hospital, and volunteers from Rompho Phetchabun Foundation rushed to the scene to investigate.

The accident site involved a two-and-a-half-story house made of half brick and half wood, located beside the road. The front of the house was heavily damaged by the crash. Nearby, the body of Mrs. Lo, 78, who lived there, was found dead at the scene. Also, Mrs. Nulek, 68, was found with a broken leg and seriously injured. She was taken to Phetchabun Hospital.

At the scene, the trailer truck with Phetchabun license plates was lodged inside the house, its front severely damaged. A black Isuzu pickup truck with Phetchabun plates was also badly damaged, as was a bronze silver Toyota pickup truck with Phetchabun plates, which sustained side damage. Additionally, many household items inside the homes were destroyed.

During questioning, Mr. Prateep, 45, the trailer truck driver, stated he had been transporting dirt to fill land at Pak Pu, Sadiang Subdistrict, making several trips that day. Before the crash, he was driving normally, but suddenly felt faint, lost control, and crashed into the black pickup truck. He then hit Mrs. Lo and Mrs. Nulek inside their home, causing injury and death. The truck continued to roll and struck the bronze pickup and two more adjacent houses.

Mr. Prateep was taken for urine and alcohol testing. His blood alcohol level was zero, but methamphetamine was detected in his urine. He confessed to using methamphetamine. He was charged with driving under the influence of illegal drugs (methamphetamine), reckless driving causing injury, death, and property damage.

Mrs. Sengiam (surname withheld) said that while she was resting with her toddler grandson in a playpen inside the house, she heard a loud noise and saw the truck crash through the house just a few meters from where they were. She was very frightened and quickly carried her grandson out. She said if the truck had veered just a little more to the right, they could have been crushed.
