Trat Naval Command Intensifies Surveillance in Eastern Gulf of Thailand to Intercept Energy and Military Equipment Shipments to Cambodia

Naval Command Region 1 assigned Trat Naval Command to supervise the eastern Gulf of Thailand waters, intensively inspecting over 30 tugboats, barges, and commercial vessels to intercept shipments of energy and military equipment bound for Cambodia.

On 28 Dec 2025, Naval Command Region 1 directed the Trat Naval Command to operate under the National Security Council’s resolution to oversee the eastern Gulf of Thailand, especially focusing on shipments of energy and military equipment to Cambodia. As a result, Trat Naval Command tightened inspections of all cargo passing through the Gulf of Thailand waters.

This operation involved coordination with related agencies, including the Border Patrol Boat Unit, Laem Ngop Marine Police Station, Trat Regional Harbor Office, Trat Customs Office, and Trat Excise Office. Between 24–28 Dec 2025, inspections were conducted on tugboats with cargo barges departing from Laem Chabang Port and anchored near the Koh Chang Tai area in Trat province.

The inspections found that the group consisted of 28 vessels originating from Bangkok, including 5 tugboats and 23 cargo barges. All vessels were anchored in the area awaiting safe conditions.

Later, on 27–28 Dec 2025, Trat Naval Command conducted additional inspections on 5 tugboats and barges transporting goods from Sri Racha district. Near Koh Kut, the crews learned of ongoing fighting along the Thailand-Cambodia border and decided to anchor their vessels for safety.

These vessels began anchoring at Bang Bao Bay, Koh Chang Tai subdistrict, Koh Chang district, Trat province, from 10 Dec 2025 onwards and currently have no intention to enter Cambodia. They will wait until the conflict ends or return their vessels. Authorities have briefed them on the border conflict and dangerous areas to ensure caution and prevent accidental entry into hazardous zones.
