Joint Thai-Cambodian Border Situation Press Center Closes, Handing Over to Anti-Fake News and Incitement Center

The joint Thai-Cambodian border situation press center has closed, handing over duties to the Anti-Fake News and Incitement Center in accordance with Article 15 of the Joint Statement to counter distorted information.

On 28 Dec 2025 GMT+7, reporters from the Joint Operations Center for the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation at Channel 5 reported that the center shifted from situation reporting to addressing questions and concerns following the signing of the Joint Statement (JS).

Today marked the final press briefing held at Channel 5 before establishing a new information coordination center or media center under Article 15 of the JS, to continue clarifying facts and counter distorted news. Participants today wore civilian suits instead of military field uniforms, reflecting the de-escalation following the ceasefire agreement. Air Chief Marshal Praphas Sonjaidee, the center's director, stated:

The center's mission is to evaluate news that is provocative or significantly impactful regarding the conflict. If such news is verified by both sides as false, it will be classified as fake news and the public will be informed accordingly. The new center will use various tools for verification and is currently seeking a location to transition operations from this center. Virtual meetings will be held continuously to provide daily Q&A sessions for the public, and media can also inquire or be invited to clarify doubts. This structure is expected to be completed soon, fulfilling the mandate of Article 15, which we have already begun implementing, awaiting formal orders.
