Police are urgently pursuing the suspect who fired five shots, killing the former Lat Khae Subdistrict Administrative Organization chief in Phetchabun, who died outside his residence. Initially, police are considering three possible motives for the killing.
On 28 December 2025, the radio emergency center at Chon Daen Police Station in Phetchabun received a report that a suspect riding a motorcycle, wearing a knit cap to conceal his face, had shot Sarawut Wongkamchan, 59, former chief of the Lat Khae Subdistrict Administrative Organization. He died outside his home in Village No. 5, Lat Khae Subdistrict, Chon Daen District, Phetchabun.
Following the report, Police Colonel Akkaradechninthorn Taweesinwatthana, superintendent of Dong Khui Police Station, along with Police Sub-Lieutenant Suthep Intharangsri, investigator at Dong Khui Police Station, promptly went to the scene with an on-duty doctor from Chon Daen Hospital and volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation, Chon Daen branch, to assist with the investigation.
At the scene, the victim's body was found with gunshot wounds from an unknown caliber firearm: one shot to the neck, one shot each to the left and right shoulders, one to the abdomen, and one to the upper arm.
Witnesses reported that the victim was standing on the phone between a Fortuner vehicle and a hut. The suspect rode a blue-black Honda motorcycle without a known license plate, wearing a knit cap to conceal his face, a long-sleeved black shirt, and black long pants. The suspect approached and fired five shots at the victim, then fled on the motorcycle heading toward Ban Lat Khae Tai, exiting via Khao Cha Ngok.
Police from Dong Khui and Chon Daen stations coordinated to block all possible escape routes the suspect might take but have found no trace so far. Authorities have preliminarily considered three motives for the attack: political reasons, personal matters, and private business issues. Further investigation is needed to clarify the exact cause.
