
The Customs Department seized and confiscated suspicious parcels smuggling foreign cigarettes and counterfeit Thai cigarettes in Sriracha district, Chonburi province, totaling over 445,200 sticks valued at more than 2.6 million baht.
On 29 Dec, reporters were informed that the Customs Department, Ministry of Finance, through the Laem Chabang Port Customs Office, inspected domestic parcels at a parcel center of a logistics company in Sriracha district, Chonburi. They found 578 packages smuggling foreign cigarettes without proper customs clearance documents or proof of purchase, as well as Thai cigarettes possibly infringing trademarks, totaling 445,200 sticks with damages valued at over 2,671,200 baht.
This case involves goods subject to confiscation under Section 166 of the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017). The owner or possessor violated Sections 242, 244, 252, 245, 246, and 247 of the same act, along with other related laws. Accordingly, all items were seized under the authority of Section 167 of the Customs Act B.E. 2560 to proceed with legal processes. Further updates will be reported as the case progresses.
