The new giant anteater at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi Province has been officially named "Kopkap" after over 14,000 visitors took part in the naming vote.
On 29 Dec 2025, Narongwit Chodchoi, director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, announced that the new giant anteater born on 21 Oct 2025 has been officially named "Kopkap."
The name was chosen through a naming vote held on the zoo's Facebook fan page "Khao Kheow Open Zoo," which received overwhelming response from children, youth, and tourists across the country. A total of 14,255 people participated, casting over 12,071 votes. The name “Kopkap” received the highest number of votes and was selected as the official name of the new giant anteater.
Additionally, Khao Kheow Open Zoo organized a special giveaway of 10 "Moo Deng" desk calendars for participants who voted in the naming contest. The lucky winners have been randomly selected.
