Meteorological Department Forecasts Cold to Chilly Weather in Many Provinces During New Year Festival 2026

"Meteorological Department" forecast weather during "New Year Festival" from 30 Dec 2025 to 4 Jan 2026, many provinces will experience cold to chilly weather

On 29 Dec 2025, the websiteof the Meteorological Department "New Year 2026 Weather Forecast" stated that "On 29 Dec 2025, the North, Northeast, and upper Central regions will experience cold to chilly weather, while the lower Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East, and upper South, will have cool mornings. This is due to a relatively strong high-pressure system or cold air mass from China still covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea, combined with northwesterly winds at upper levels blowing over upper Thailand."

From 30 Dec 2025 to 2 Jan 2026, upper Thailand will see rising temperatures with some morning fog, but the upper North and upper Northeast will remain cold to chilly. This is because the relatively strong high-pressure system or cold air mass from China covering upper Thailand and the South China Sea will weaken, while northwesterly upper-level winds continue to blow over upper Thailand.

Then, on 3–4 Jan 2026, upper Thailand will experience a temperature drop with strong winds. The North and Northeast will be cold to chilly, while the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the East will have cool mornings. This is due to a new moderate high-pressure system or cold air mass from China spreading over upper Thailand and the South China Sea."
