The 7 Dangerous Days Begin: Tightened Controls During New Year Festival Emphasize Dont Drink and Drive Enforcement

The first day of the 7 Dangerous Days crackdown during the New Year festival has begun, with all areas coordinating efforts to strictly enforce the "Don't Drink and Drive" policy.

Chaiwat Chuengkosum revealed that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is concerned about citizens' safety on the roads, especially during the year-end New Year festival. The government places great importance on preventing and reducing road accidents during this period, continuously focusing on road safety. At the same time, Atthasit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, has urged governors of all 76 provinces to prioritize establishing and operating "community checkpoints," particularly on secondary roads and within communities, to enhance the safety of village and community residents.

For the New Year 2026 festival, all areas are required to integrate plans to prevent and reduce road accidents using a clear operational framework. Continuous centers will be set up to facilitate citizens, strictly maintaining safety during the 7 Dangerous Days from 30 December 2025 to 5 January 2026. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) is the main agency driving this effort, committed to fostering a sustainable road safety culture. This includes promoting the "Don't Drink and Drive" mindset, educating the public about legal penalties, reducing risk and danger spots in communities, and instilling traffic discipline among youth and schools.

The Ministry of Interior expresses gratitude to all sectors that have selflessly collaborated in this integrated effort, including preparation of routes, traffic signals, vehicles, law enforcement, and management, as well as mobilizing public cooperation to ensure everyone travels safely during the New Year festival.
