Tourists are bustling, with visits to Doi Inthanon National Park exceeding ten thousand. This morning, the lowest temperature was 5°C, and frost continued to appear.
At 09:00 on 31 December 2025, a reporter stated that at Doi Inthanon National Park in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai, Mr. Jeeraniti Chingsaard, head of the park, reported that the cold weather continues. The lowest temperature recorded at the summit was 5°C; at Kew Mae Pan, 6°C; and at the park office, also 6°C. Today marks the 23rd occurrence of frost in 2025. The lowest temperature of 5°C was recorded at Doi Inthanon National Park Protection Unit 5 (summit) at 06:00, with frost observed at Kew Mae Pan.
Tourists took photos, experienced the cold air, viewed the sea of mist and morning sunlight, and explored nature within the park. Various winter flowers were blooming, including wild Himalayan cherry blossoms. The pine forest camping ground is now full, so the park has opened additional camping areas near the office for walk-in visitors only.
It is uncertain when the additional camping areas will fill up, as visitors continue to arrive gradually. The total capacity for camping, including the pine forest and the office area, is about 650 tents. On 30 December 2025, the park recorded 10,901 Thai visitors and 2,263 foreign visitors, totaling 13,164 people, with 3,381 vehicles.
The Northern Meteorological Center in Chiang Mai, through Acting Lt. Pricha Jintthanawat, the northern weather forecaster, reported that the general weather condition in Chiang Mai and the northern region is cool to cold with morning fog. This is due to the upper-level northwesterly winds covering northern Thailand, while a weak high-pressure or cold air mass covers the north and northeast. The public is advised to take care of their health due to the cold weather.
Additionally, people should exercise caution when traveling through foggy areas. In Chiang Mai, the weather is cool with morning fog; the lowest temperature is 16°C and the highest is 30°C. On the mountain peaks, the weather is cold to very cold with some frost, with temperatures between 5-9°C and northeast winds at 10-15 km/h. At the San Kamphaeng hot springs, a royal project in Mae On District, Chiang Mai, and the famous tourist spot Ban Kampong, visitors are already booking countdown events. Further updates will be provided.
