Traffic on Mittraphap Road in Muak Lek District, Saraburi Province, is increasing as people who traveled out of town begin returning to Bangkok and nearby areas after the extended New Year holiday.
On 1 January 2026, reporters in Saraburi Province observed traffic on Mittraphap Road in Muak Lek District growing heavier throughout the evening, as travelers from other provinces started returning to Bangkok and surrounding regions following the New Year holiday break.
Vehicles travel at speeds of 50-60 km/h but slow down into long queues due to descending Chan Hill and Wat Subbon Hill in Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi. The traffic jam stretches about 20 km from Muak Lek District to Klang Dong in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. Beyond that, as vehicles enter Phahonyothin Road through Nong Khae District, Saraburi, heading toward Bangkok, speeds increase to 60-70 km/h. It is expected that traffic volume will continue to rise throughout the night.
Meanwhile, the M6 expressway inbound toward Bangkok remains closed, with authorities not yet allowing vehicles to use this route to return to the capital.
