Uthai Thani City Police Set Up Checkpoint Distributing 2,000 Steamed Buns Chief Guarantees Deliciousness, Reminds Drivers Not to Drink and Drive

Before entering Bangkok, Uthai Thani City Police set up a checkpoint distributing 2,000 steamed buns. The chief guaranteed their deliciousness and reminded drivers not to drink and drive.

At 08:00 on 2 January 2026, the atmosphere at the traffic police post of Uthai Thani City Police Station in Uthai Thani Province was especially lively. Police Colonel Sombun Thongloi, Deputy Commander of Uthai Thani Provincial Police, along with Police Colonel Pakin Wannasri, Chief of Uthai Thani City Police Station, led police officers to set up a checkpoint on the outbound side heading toward Asia Road. The aim was to campaign for safe driving, respect for traffic laws, and to remind drivers not to drink and drive during the period when people were gradually returning to Bangkok after the long New Year holiday, a time known for particularly heavy traffic.

This checkpoint was no ordinary one. Besides strict safety inspections, it brought smiles and warmth to road users through a special treat prepared with heart by the police officers themselves: freshly fried steamed buns made right at the traffic post. They literally set up the stove and shaped the buns fresh on site, working together to prepare enough for the steady flow of passing vehicles. It was expected that over 2,000 buns, along with bottled water, would be distributed to travelers passing the checkpoint, providing them both nourishment and goodwill before their long journey, eliciting laughter and appreciation from drivers and passengers alike.

Police Colonel Pakin Wannasri, Chief of Uthai Thani City Police Station, personally guaranteed the buns' deliciousness amid smiles and laughter from the public. He confirmed that the buns distributed were delicious, fresh, clean, and safe to eat, assuring everyone’s peace of mind. Thus, this morning’s checkpoint was more than a routine traffic stop—it was a checkpoint of kindness where police and citizens exchanged smiles, care, and goodwill at the end of the long holiday. It aimed to ensure every journey home or back to work was safe along the entire route. This checkpoint left drivers not only smiling but also impressed by the generosity of Uthai Thani police.
