Thailand Denies Cambodias Claims, Affirms Strict Compliance with GBC Joint Statement, Controls Original Areas Without Changing Border Lines

The Joint Situation Center refuted Cambodia’s claim, affirming that Thailand strictly follows the GBC joint statement by deploying forces to control and secure the areas originally held by Thailand before the ceasefire. It emphasized this is not a change of the border line.

At 16:00, the Joint Situation Center for the Thai-Cambodian border situation issued a statement saying that, in response to Cambodia’s stance rejecting any border changes caused by force, it wishes to clarify the facts for public and media understanding as follows.

1. Thailand strictly complies with the joint statement, especially Clause 2. Thailand has fully implemented the joint statement from the 3rd Special Meeting of the General Border Committee (GBC) on 27 Dec 2025, adhering to the principle to “maintain current troop deployments” with no additional troop movements, no incursions, and no patrols directed at the opposing side’s positions, as clearly stated in the joint statement.

2. All Thai actions within the Thai-controlled areas agreed upon in the joint statement do not constitute border changes. Thai deployments serve to control and secure the areas Thailand held in the field before the ceasefire. These actions are not border line alterations.

3. The joint statement and Thailand’s actions do not affect the ongoing border survey and demarcation process, which must continue through mutually agreed mechanisms, particularly the Joint Border Commission (JBC), as specified in Clause 3 of the joint statement.

4. Thailand remains committed to international law and peaceful resolution. Its actions aim to maintain order, public safety, and compliance with existing agreements, without violating any party’s sovereignty.

5. Thailand is ready to continue constructive cooperation. It remains dedicated to supporting tension reduction, confidence building, and problem resolution through existing bilateral mechanisms to achieve lasting peace and stability along the border.
