Returning from New Year celebrations, a car lost control and crashed into a road median, injuring three people. Fortunately, good samaritans helped them escape just before the car was engulfed in flames. Authorities found a strong smell of alcohol on the injured victims.
Just after midnight on 3 January 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutthipong Sangset, Deputy Investigating Officer at Khok Samrong Police Station, received a report of a car crashing into the median on Phahonyothin Road 1, Ban Nong Khu, Huai Pong Subdistrict, Khok Samrong District, Lopburi Province. The vehicle caught fire intensely. Firefighters from the Khok Samrong Rescue Association and nearby units were dispatched to the scene.
At the scene near the road median, the car bearing Bangkok license plates was ablaze. Firefighters managed to extinguish the fire later, but the car was completely destroyed. No injured or deceased were found inside the vehicle, as three injured individuals had been taken to hospital earlier by good samaritans. They were identified as the driver, Mr. Thaloengsak, 42, Mr. Phattharaphong, 43, and Ms. Prapai, 31. All three were injured and unable to provide statements.
Investigation revealed that the car had been traveling from Mueang Lopburi District toward Khok Samrong District. At the crash site, which is a U-turn median, the car lost control, skidded against the median, scraping the underside and sliding over 10 meters. This likely caused sparks that ignited the spilled fuel. Fortunately, good samaritans arrived in time to assist.
Police recorded the scene and, upon examining the injured, detected a strong smell of alcohol, concluding that heavy intoxication likely caused the accident.
