Asia Highway Toward Bangkok in Ang Thong Province Experiences Heavy Traffic and Intermittent Stops

Ang Thong – The Asia Highway heading into Bangkok is heavily congested, with traffic slowing intermittently near bridge bottlenecks and intersections. Vehicle speeds are approximately 30-40 kilometers per hour. Traffic volume is expected to continue building up into the night.

At 18:30 on 3 January 2026, reporters observed traffic conditions on the Asia Highway in Ang Thong province, from the boundary of Chaiyo District and Mueang District in Ang Thong, extending to the boundary of Maharaj District in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya province.

Traffic was found to be dense in all lanes, moving at around 30-40 kilometers per hour. Congestion and intermittent slowdowns occurred near bridge bottlenecks and intersections, as the long New Year holiday ended. People were gradually returning to Bangkok to resume work, and traffic volume is expected to remain heavy into the night.
