Crowds Return to Bangkok as Motorway M6 and Mittraphap Road Experience Heavy Traffic

People traveling back to Bangkok have caused heavy traffic on Motorway M6 and Mittraphap Road in Nakhon Ratchasima. It is expected that travelers will continue returning steadily throughout the night.


On 4 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters observed that in the afternoon, Motorway M6 near kilometer 143 at Ban Nong Bua, Lat Bua Khao Subdistrict, Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima, was crowded with people returning to Bangkok and surrounding provinces after the New Year holidays. Traffic on Motorway M6 was dense but generally allowed speeds of about 40-70 kilometers per hour.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere on Mittraphap Road was equally busy. Traffic near kilometer 91+100 at Ban Lert Sawat, Lat Bua Khao Subdistrict, Sikhio District, Nakhon Ratchasima, heading into Bangkok, was heavy. People have been steadily traveling back to Bangkok and the metropolitan area since the morning.

Traffic was intermittently stop-and-go in some hilly areas, with speeds around 40-60 kilometers per hour. Nonetheless, it is expected that people will continue returning to Bangkok steadily throughout the night.
