At 18:12 on 4 January 2026, Police Lieutenant Colonel Phairoj Jittrangsee, an investigator at Tha Kham Police Station, received a report of a fire at the Bang Khun Thian District Office on Rama II Road, Soi 54, Samae Dam Subdistrict, Bang Khun Thian District, Bangkok. He promptly went to the scene with Bang Khun Thian fire and rescue personnel and two fire trucks.
The incident occurred in a five-story building where smoke was observed on the 5th floor. Firefighters dragged hoses up and found the fire's origin in the finance department's document storage room on the 5th floor. It took about 15 minutes to extinguish the fire. The blaze damaged some documents and office equipment but did not spread to neighboring rooms.
An on-site security guard reported seeing smoke on the 5th floor and quickly tried to use a fire extinguisher but was overwhelmed by the smoke and alerted authorities. The fire is preliminarily suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Authorities will coordinate with the forensic team to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
