A car crashed into a curry shop and people shopping inside Noree Alley, Samut Prakan Province, injuring six people—five women and one man. Among them, one woman is in critical condition. Officials rushed to provide aid and transport her to the hospital while police reviewed CCTV footage and investigated the cause in detail.
At 18:00 on 5 Jan 2026, the emergency call center 1669 at Samut Prakan Hospital received reports of an SUV crashing into motorcycles and pedestrians shopping in Noree Alley on Sukhumvit Road, Tambon Thaibanmai, Mueang District, Samut Prakan Province. Rescue teams from Ruamkusol Foundation and Samut Prakan Hospital ambulances were dispatched promptly to assist.
At the scene, six people were injured—five women and one man. One woman was critically injured, lying in the middle of the road. Rescue personnel administered first aid before transporting her to a nearby hospital. Investigators found a Mazda SUV stopped inside the curry shop, with heavy damage to the front of the vehicle and the shop. A motorcycle was crushed beneath the car.
CCTV footage showed the SUV parked near a gas shop before suddenly accelerating to the right at high speed, crossing into oncoming traffic. Another camera caught the vehicle speeding in the right lane before swerving back left, violently hitting motorcycles and the curry shop until it stopped, causing multiple injuries.
The driver, Somkiat Thongprasert, 58, said he had parked about 100 meters away to buy gas and got out to change the gas tank. He believed he forgot to shift the automatic transmission into Park. When he got back in and tried to drive off, the car rolled forward into the roadside shop. He insisted he had not consumed alcohol before the incident.
Meanwhile, a local injured resident said that while standing and chatting with relatives in front of the shop, the car suddenly rushed toward them. Fortunately, they managed to dodge quickly, so the injuries were minor.
Witness Narintr Atprajun, 26, said the vehicle accelerated rapidly, causing the wheels to spin freely. He saw the car near a gold shop before it crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting two motorcycles and then crashing into the curry shop.
Initially, police investigators are gathering evidence, reviewing more CCTV footage, and interviewing those involved to proceed with legal actions according to the law.
