On 6 January 2026, the 2nd Army Region explained that personnel were injured in an explosion at Chong Bok, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The incident occurred at approximately 07:25 GMT+7, when the Suranaree Task Force reported an explosion at Hill 469, Dom Pradit Subdistrict, Nam Yuen District, Ubon Ratchathani.
One soldier was injured: Sergeant Major Pratchaya Pilachai, platoon commander of the 1st light weapons squad, Infantry Company 6021 (RDF), suffered shrapnel wounds to his right arm.
Medical evaluation classified his condition as green level, indicating no life-threatening injuries. After the incident, local units provided initial first aid following field medical protocols, then evacuated the injured soldier from the operational area immediately. The soldier was taken to Kud Chiang Mun Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital and subsequently transferred to Nam Yuen Hospital for further treatment. He is currently stable and under close medical supervision.
The cause of the incident is still under investigation by the relevant units.
The 2nd Army Region expressed concern for the injured soldier and has instructed all units to strictly increase caution during operations to ensure maximum safety for personnel and local residents. Updates will be reported to commanders and the public in due course.
