Phuket is ready to host the EDC Thailand 2026 concert, joining forces with local businesses to showcase Thai identity and create a magnet that draws tourists to the area. It is expected to generate more than 12.5 billion baht in economic activity over five years, boosting the local economy.
On 6 Jan 2026, Mr. Sopon Kiamkan, Phuket's provincial public relations officer, revealed that the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is one of the world's largest and most influential electronic music festivals with over 30 years of history. It is held in multiple countries worldwide, including the United States where it originated, Colombia, China, and South Korea. These events attract hundreds of thousands of local and international attendees, generating substantial revenue for tourism and local businesses in each country.
Meanwhile, Mr. Noppamon Sangtasap, chairman and CEO of Future Vibes Co., Ltd., stated that the company has partnered with Insomniac, the organizer behind the Electric Daisy Carnival, investing 700 million baht to expand the Electric Daisy Carnival Thailand 2026. The event will take place from 16-18 January 2026, doubling the event area from 182,400 sq.m. in EDC Thailand 2025 to 345,600 sq.m. This expansion includes relocating the venue from Boat Avenue Lakefront to Rhythm Park in Choeng Thale Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket, with site adjustments made to support continuous events for five years.
The event also collaborates with local entrepreneurs and Thai artists nationwide to highlight Thai identity and unique offerings, creating new attractions within the festival. These include modern mor lam music integrated into select zones to promote Thai music on the global stage; a lineup of Michelin-starred restaurants from Phuket and across Thailand; taking over hotels to provide accommodations and host supplementary events for the first time outside the Las Vegas edition; introducing a beach zone for the first time worldwide; partnering with the Sabai Run Club community to organize the EDC Run Club event; adding carnival rides and workshops; and emphasizing environmental care through beach clean-ups that transform collected waste into local artists' artworks, alongside waste reduction and separation during the event.
"EDC Thailand 2026 marks the first time that full-scale production standards equivalent to those of EDC in Las Vegas, USA, are brought to Thailand," he said.
Mr. Noppamon further emphasized that Thailand has the potential to become a global destination for music and lifestyle landmarks. Beyond the readiness of the audience, location, and transportation, the event benefits from strong support from both public and private sectors, with increasing sponsorship from various industries, including real estate. Therefore, EDC Thailand is designed as a long-term festival. In 2025, the event attracted 150,000 attendees, including over 50,000 international tourists, each spending an average of 50,000 baht, generating significant economic value for both Phuket and Thailand.
For the 2026 event, there will be a focus on local community participation and environmental responsibility through serious collaboration with local communities. The five-year strategic plan (2026-2030) is expected to generate over 12.5 billion baht in economic value and attract more than 460,000 international tourists during the event period. It is also anticipated to increase Phuket’s inbound tourism in January by over 25%.
