Fire Destroys Over 10 Speedboats at Chalong Pier, Phuket, Causing Tens of Millions in Damage

A fire broke out among speedboats docked at Chalong Pier in Phuket, destroying more than 10 vessels. The estimated damage amounts to tens of millions of baht. The cause is currently under investigation.

At 04:00 on 7 Jan 2026, police at Chalong Police Station in Phuket received a report from the Phuket Tourist Assistance Center, also known as the Pearl Center in Chalong Subdistrict, that a fire had broken out among dozens of speedboats docked at Chalong Pier. Firefighting teams from Chalong and Karon municipalities, Phuket City Municipality, and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation responded with dozens of vehicles, along with fireboats from Phuket Provincial Administrative Organization, to extinguish the flames.

Initially, the fire rapidly spread among speedboats moored at Chalong Pier, making fire control very challenging. The flames jumped from one boat to another. Firefighters are currently working to contain the blaze.

Pol. Col. Surasak Jaidee, Superintendent of Chalong Police Station, said that the fire at Chalong Pier is still not fully under control. He urged boat owners and witnesses to contact the front office of Chalong Police Station at the third-floor conference room, phone number 076-381-247. Traffic police are managing traffic around Chalong Pier, and people without essential business are advised to avoid the area.
