
The Commander of the 12th Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, acting as Commander of Task Force 12, visited soldiers injured while on duty during the fighting at the Sa Kaeo border, delivering aid supplies and financial support, and affirmed that the unit will fully safeguard the personnel's rights and benefits.
On 8 Jan 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Colonel Chainarong Kasi, Commander of the 12th Infantry Regiment, King's Guard, in his capacity as Commander of Task Force 12, along with his staff from both the regiment and task force, visited seven soldiers wounded in combat while performing their duties in the fighting at Ban Nong Chan–Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, along the Thai-Cambodian border in Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo province, to offer encouragement.
During the visit, the commander closely inquired about the soldiers’ injuries, living conditions, and recovery progress, praising their courage, sacrifice, and strong commitment in defending the nation's sovereignty and security despite facing dangerous situations. Colonel Chainarong also presented morale-boosting supplies and financial aid to the injured soldiers and their families, assuring that both the unit and the Royal Thai Army will provide comprehensive support in medical treatment, physical rehabilitation, and all entitled benefits.
A total of seven soldiers injured in the incident are receiving treatment at two hospitals, divided as follows:
At Phramongkutklao Hospital in Bangkok, three soldiers are being treated:
1. Sergeant Major Pornchai Boonsai, assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.
2. Private Nattawut Kianmarong, assigned to the 2nd Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.
3. Private Isawa Prawatklang, assigned to the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.
At Ananda Mahidol Hospital in Lopburi province, four soldiers are being treated:
1. Staff Sergeant Major Ronnayut Ratchin, assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.
2. Private Natthaphon Boontem, assigned to the 1st Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.
3. Private Nithikorn Somtum, assigned to the 2nd Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.
4. Private Watcharin Klinsrisuk, assigned to the 3rd Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, King's Guard.
The attending physicians reported that all soldiers’ conditions are under close supervision and show progressive improvement, supported by visits and encouragement from their commanders, fellow soldiers, and families.
This visit underscores the commanders’ concern for personnel serving in border areas and reaffirms the Royal Thai Army’s commitment not to abandon its subordinates, standing by them until they fully recover and regain their health and safety.
