
The Army Commander visited the First Army Region to monitor the Thai-Cambodian border situation. He expressed thanks to the personnel involved in defending sovereignty, stressed the utmost importance of rights and welfare at all levels, and instructed the review of operational lessons learned to prepare thoroughly for all aspects of possible scenarios without complacency.
On 9 Jan 2026 GMT+7, General Pana Klaewplodtuk, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army and Head of the Army Operations Center, visited the area to monitor the situation, deliver policy guidance, and encourage troops working along the Thai-Cambodian border within the First Army Region.
The Commander-in-Chief received a briefing on the situation and key operations of the Burapha Task Force at its headquarters in Watthana Nakhon District, Sa Kaeo Province. He then inspected military operations near Ban Khlong Phaeng, Ta Phraya District, Sa Kaeo, where forces maintain regular patrols and surveillance to prevent sovereignty incursions and ensure public safety.
During this visit, the Army Commander expressed gratitude for the dedication and praised all units for their committed efforts to protect sovereignty to the fullest extent. He emphasized that personnel must operate with caution, closely monitor and assess the situation comprehensively, continually review operational plans, and incorporate lessons learned to adapt actions appropriately and effectively.
He also urged commanders to restore unit resources in all dimensions—including personnel, equipment, and regional security infrastructure—to ensure immediate readiness for any emerging situations. Furthermore, the Commander-in-Chief placed highest priority on the rights and welfare of troops serving in the field at all levels, especially those injured, disabled, or deceased.
He instructed unit commanders to oversee all processes to fully and swiftly uphold personnel rights, facilitate family support in accessing entitlements such as administrative procedures, guidance on benefits, medical visitations, and the recruitment of replacements for fallen heroes, ensuring the best possible care and recognition.
