
At midnight, attackers detonated bombs at 11 gas stations across the three southern border provinces of Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. Authorities have sealed off the areas to investigate the causes and gather evidence.
Between approximately 00:45 and 01:30 on the night of 11 January 2025 GMT+7, multiple explosions were heard simultaneously in various locations in Narathiwat province, causing alarm among local residents.
Most explosions occurred at gas stations around the same time, totaling five sites across five districts in Narathiwat. These included PTT stations located in Moo 4, Ban Khok, Choob Subdistrict, Cho Irong District; another in Dusongyo Subdistrict, Janae District; one in Ra-ngae District; one in Waeng District; and one in Pasem Subdistrict, Su-ngai Kolok District. Fires broke out causing damage to the fuel service stations. Additionally, an incident occurred near the Border Patrol Police Task Force 33 in Su-ngai Kolok District. These events caused fear among residents living nearby.
Police Major General Prayong Khot Sakha, Commander of Narathiwat Provincial Police, ordered police forces in each area to coordinate with military and administrative officials to secure the sites for safety. They are awaiting forensic teams to conduct detailed investigations to determine causes and collect evidence. Security measures have been tightened to prevent recurrence and ensure public safety.
Reports also indicate similar incidents at two locations in Pattani province: PTT fuel stations in Mueang Pattani District and Kapho District.
In Yala province, four incidents occurred at PTT fuel stations located in Kabang District, Bannang Sata District, and two sites in Mueang Yala District. In total, 11 PTT gas stations across the three southern border provinces were damaged in these coordinated bombings.
